06 Jun Safeguarding, protection and welfare of children policy
General Procedures
It is always my priority that all the children in my setting are well looked after, feel safe and happy.
I oblige myself to safeguard them from any type of harm, danger or maltreatment they can face, despite of their age, gender, race, cultural and religious background. That would include any form of abuse (domestic, physical, emotional, sexual and neglect), that signs and symptoms I am aware of, and that could take place in my practice or outside of it.
I ask you, as a parent/carer of a child, to notify me as quickly as possible, if you notice any alarming signs or if you have any concerns about the welfare of you child.
I need to be informed about any accidents, incidents or injuries affecting the child, which I will record and ask you to sign.
If any of those give me any concern or injuries child has are not consistent with a reported accident, I will discuss those with you, unless I believe that it would put the child at risk of further harm.
In the situation, when a child tells me about being abused, I will listen to them carefully, without interrupting or asking leading questions, showing my understanding and compassion. I will reassure a child, that s/he did really well by telling me, and that now I will do my best to help by contacting appropriate professionals.
